Realities of marriage

I see you all so eager, to "complete half your deen"
But it's not always happiness, I'll tell you what I mean
Yes at first it's fun, just like a honeymoon
But things may start to change, oh so very soon

Suddenly your time, is not just yours to own
Spending countless hours, on twitter with your phone
You may have some plans, she has got some others
An argument has sparked, very common for two lovers

Yes I'm sure you'll make up, before too long
Both admitting that you may be in the wrong
It will become more frequent, through the months & the years
Whilst as your relationship, kicks through the gears

Finishing work late, what a tiring day
All you want to do, is in bed just lay
"Babe my car won't start, can you check it out?"
You start to refuse, but she hits you with a pout

She's made you some dinner, not quite like mummy does
Just make sure you don't insult, it will kick up a fuss
After not too long, your wife's now pregnant
Keeping her happy, is extremely important

"Can you go shops please, I want peaches and some chilli"
Yes a real craving, even though it sounds so silly
Throwing up daily, too unwell to cook the food
It only takes a little thing to put her in a mood

Just nine months later, when the baby's born
Be prepared to always be awake before dawn
Blood, faeces, vomit and tears
Say welcome to all of your fears

A lack of sleep, whose turn is it now?
Many a time it can turn into a row
"The baby just coughed! sick he must be right?"
Then you're taking him hospital, in the middle of the night

Not trying just to scare, check the stats out fast
Over a third of marriages just don't seem to last
I know what you're thinking, "that won't be me"
"As patient and graceful as the prophet ﷺ I shall be"

Yet even the Prophet would argue with his wives
And we are nowhere near him, so expect this in your lives
Mostly it is great, but horizons need to grow
Rarely sunshine and lollipops, that you need to know
